Youth Mental Health First Aid

This training is delivered by Annette Lilley an experienced counsellor and mental health trainer with over 15 years experience of working therapeutically with individuals that have experienced emotional distress. Annette spent 10 years working in a large secondary school in Birmingham with children and young people aged 11-18 years old and understands the pressures facing young people today. Annette has also worked therapeutically with teachers, social workers, psychologists and other individuals that work with children and young people.

Youth Mental Health First Aid provides participants with the tools to notice distress in a young person and the confidence to know how to support and empower the young person to take positive steps to improve their mental and emotional health. The 2 day course covers depression, anxiety, suicide, psychosis, self harm and eating disorders as well as looking at empowerment and recovery.

Working Therapeutically with Autistic People

Considering how to work therapeutically with autistic people and those that have autistic traits.  Training will be delivered by Annette Lilley and Hope Peckover who, between them, have over 20 years experience of working therapeutically with autistic people.

Training will cover: what is autism? autism and mental health, sensory processing, executive functioning, communication and relationships, trauma and stress, therapeutic relationship and accessibility.

Working With Suicidal Ideation in the Counselling Room

This training focuses on developing an understanding of suicidal thoughts and behaviours and how to work with these within counselling. The purpose of the training is to gain confidence in assessing risk and managing the feelings of deep distress that come with suicidal thoughts and feelings.

Annette is an Integrative Counsellor with 14 years experience of working with adults and teenagers.

An Introduction to “personality disorder”

This training is delivered by Graham Mackay an experienced psychotherapist with over 30 years experience of working
therapeutically with individuals that have experienced trauma and distress. Graham works from a compassion focused approach and has a particular interest in working therapeutically in groups and with individuals that may be diagnosed with a “personality disorder”.
